Root models
Attach a library object in Backoffice, inspect it in Editor, and understand publication pinning.
Every 3D-configurable product revision needs an attached root model. Model assignment is currently a Backoffice workflow, not an Editor upload workflow.
Attach or change the model
- Open the draft product in Backoffice.
- Open the 3D tab or 3D Studio.
- Choose a library object and attach it as the primary model, or use Change model on an existing assignment.
- Save the draft and open the Stage editor to inspect it.
The Backoffice form selects a library object. Do not document a working Editor Import model or Browse library modal: those Editor controls currently set status text only.
Revision behavior
A product model stores an immutable object-asset revision pin. Changing the model in a draft updates that pin. Publication then checks the selected library object, advances the draft pin to its latest library revision if necessary, and freezes that tip in the published snapshot.
This means an older published revision keeps its historical pin, while a draft may change at publication if the library tip changed after preview.
Verify
- Attach the object in Backoffice and reload the product before opening Editor.
- Confirm Editor loads the expected product name, model name, and geometry.
- Reopen the publish dependency resolver and review any Will advance to tip entry.
- If the pin will advance, preview that latest library revision before publishing.
- After publication, confirm resolution returns the expected
rootObjectAssetRevisionId.
